Step 1: Connect Your MIDI Controller

Connect your MIDI controller to your Mac and launch djay Pro AI. An automatic pop-up message will appear alerting you that the device has been found, asking if you'd like to configure the device now.

Step 2: Open the MIDI Configuration Window

To access the mapping window, select the controller from the 'MIDI' menu in the top menu bar. Alternatively, press or move a control (e.g., button, slider, or knob) on your MIDI controller to open the configuration window.

Step 3: Create Your Custom MIDI Mapping

In the mapping screen, you'll see a blank table with columns for 'Action' and 'Target.' Select the action that should be performed when using the control from the drop-down menu in the 'Action' column. For example, if you're configuring the play button, select 'Play/Pause.'

Next, select the target for the mapping from the drop-down menu in the 'Target' column. If you're configuring the play button for the left turntable in djay, select 'Deck 1.' You can also create an entry by moving the crossfader on your controller; djay Pro AI will automatically add the correct note or CC to the list.

Step 4: Duplicate Mappings and Test Your Configurations

Want a single control to perform multiple actions? Simply control-click (right-click) the mapping entry and select 'Duplicate Mapping for Control' from the menu. You can test your new mapping immediately by using it on your MIDI controller without saving.

Step 5: Save Your Custom MIDI Configuration

When you're happy with your custom configuration, select the Done button to save your mappings in djay Pro AI. You can also revert back to a previous saved configuration or an empty list of mappings if needed.
